Mobile systems arrive in numbers throughout Ireland

The Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland has awarded a two-year contract to HSL to supply and maintain MobileDaRt Evolution MX8 mobile x-ray systems. The contract was awarded just over a year ago and a significant number of mobile units have since been installed in HSE hospitals and in private hospitals across Ireland.

All of the installations are of the MobileDaRt Evolution MX8 mobile unit from Shimadzu. HSL says great interest was shown in the system at the UKIO congress. “We are confident of some imminent installations of the new model,” said HSL’s head of GB commercial operations Paula Scully.

One of the hospitals to recently take advantage of this contract has been University Hospital Waterford. Radiology services manager Louise Diamond said: “The acquisition of our first digital mobile unit offers substantial diagnostic and time saving advantages allowing for improved efficiencies in workflow. It offers superior image quality, improved patient care and a more streamlined workflow for clinicians, with the potential for reduction in radiation dose.”
