In-person training returns for the national radiographers informatics education sessions

Northern Ireland was the location for the return of face-to-face informatics training sessions this Easter. Attendees from the NIPACS HSCNI consortium joined forces with BreastCheck Ireland and private hospital group Kingsbridge Health-care (previously 3fivetwo) in Belfast to undertake the non-profit training courses. Two sessions ran simultaneously to meet demand.

Northern Ireland PACS programme lead Nicky Harvey said: “Lovely to welcome the team back over to Belfast for a very informative weekend. We had a great turnout for the sessions; the courses were informative, useful, relevant and benefited all who attended. A great success.”

Orthopaedic surgeon and group medical advisor Dr Anand Patel added: “It is fantastic to be back delivering training face to face. While Teams and Zoom sessions have had their place, nothing can better the educational benefits of sharing experiences and best practices live in person. We look forward to the next session taking place in Scotland.”

The Fundamentals of Radiology IT sessions are led by Alexander Peck, BIR communications lead for the AI and Innovations Special Interest Group. Thousands of radiographers, PACS professionals, students and interested AHPs have attended the non-profit training in past years, with the majority of NHS trusts now having had at least one person trained. Upcoming sessions in Wales, Scotland and the Channel Islands are fully booked; however, further dates in Manchester have places available.
