Hexarad launches health technology fellowship for NHS radiology registrars

British radiology technology company Hexarad has launched its 12-month paid health technology fellowship for radiology registrars, now in its third year. This fellowship gives radiology registrars the opportunity to gain experience in health technology and management, as well as working alongside Hexarad’s senior leadership team to design, develop and implement technology solutions.

Hexarad chief commercial officer Dr Amy Davis, who is a current NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme Fellow and a former BMJ associate editor, commented: “With the NHS now setting up to embrace AI and other technology solutions, particularly in radiology, it is more important than ever for registrars to be able to understand and evaluate health tech.

“In order for these solutions to work, we as doctors need to understand how they could help save money, cut down delays, or improve patient care. Ultimately, doctors and other NHS staff are the end users of this technology, so we need them to have the right training and knowledge.”

Head of reporter experience and former Hexarad management fellow Seyi Adesalu added: “Looking back at the fellowship, I think it really helped me understand myself professionally. It was a great insight into just how vast the healthcare landscape is. I think it’s so important for doctors to be directly involved with the development of new health technologies, because we have an in-depth understanding of the problems that need to be solved. The fellowship gave me firsthand experience of this when working on the development and launch of the Hexarad Hub – I know it would have made a huge difference for me when working as a doctor in A&E.”

Hexarad also offers a registrar community, which gives radiology registrars access to training resources, events and discounts on further education.
