Mammography system impresses Cambridge team

Cancer care specialist GenesisCare has selected an Amulet Innovality mammography system from Fujifilm for a second UK site.

The breast team at the Cambridge hospital perform screening and symptomatic examinations, and the single system design of the Amulet Innovality will allow it to easily expand its service to more specialised diagnostic techniques in future, including contrast-enhanced digital mammography and biopsy.

“We were excited to install the Fujifilm Amulet Innovality unit to support our new breast service,” said lead diagnostic radiographer Michelle West.

“Since installation we have had excellent feedback from everyone about the new system; patients have commented on the comfort of the Fit Sweet paddle, our radiologists are impressed with the quality of the images for standard 2D and tomosynthesis mammography, and the clinical staff find the unit easy to use. The ambient lighting helps calm patients during their examination, and staff enjoy changing the coloured lights around the control unit.”

West continued: “COVID-19 delayed our installation slightly, but the Fujifilm team kept us up to date with changes so we could manage the project effectively. Its team was fully engaged throughout the project from start to finish. Engineers were professional and kept our local team informed, the applications went smoothly and the clinical team felt supported and knowledgeable after training. Overall, the whole Fujifilm team dealt with issues quickly and effectively.”
