Productivity improves at King George Hospital

Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Sunil Auplish with Vertec product specialist Keith Lakin.

King George Hospital, Ilford, has been using a Fluoroscan InSight FD mini C-arm system for a year. Sold and supported in the UK by Vertec Scientific, it has been designed with the surgeon in mind, with an ergonomic flat detector design and ease of positioning for patient/operator access.

Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Sunil Auplish, who specialises in elbow, hand and wrist, shoulder, upper limb surgery, reported: “Fluoroscan has had a very positive impact on our work.  Our productivity is better because we don’t have to wait for a radiographer and we are doing our own image-guided injections rather than sending the patients to the radiology department, which has brought down the waiting times.  We are also making money for the department by doing the injections whilst the first patient is being anaesthetised, which enhances theatre efficiency and productivity.  Image quality is outstanding making difficult hand and wrist surgery much easier.”
