Dose in coronary CT angiography paper among those awarded at BIR congress

President of the BIR Dr Jane Phillips-Hughes congratulates Dr Dominik Benz.

President of the BIR Dr Jane Phillips-Hughes presented a range of awards at the BIR annual congress in November.

Dr Dominik Benz from University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, has been awarded the BJR/Jusha Early Career Investigator Award for his paper on ‘A low dose and an ultra low dose contrast agent protocol for coronary CT angiography in a clinical setting: Quantitative and qualitative comparison to a standard dose protocol’.

Dr Benz said: “It is a great honour for me to be this year’s winner of this esteemed award and I am grateful to the BIR for giving us the opportunity to raise awareness for this field of research.  Due to the widespread clinical use of coronary CT angiography, the potential risks such as exposure to ionising radiation and contrast agents need to be minimised without affecting its diagnostic performance.”
