Future Medical team takes care of PETCT removal at Dublin hospital

Imaging equipment procurement company Future Medical organised the removal of a 2007 GE Healthcare Discovery STE 64 PETCT from St James’s Hospital, Dublin. The 5,500kg system was loaded onto wooden pallets for transport to the loading area. The equipment was moved on rubber wheels for floor protection, with the added use of boards and steel plates.

Hospital procurement manager Nicolas Reuland said: “All went as planned. The team was extremely professional and knowledgeable. They left the room in an impeccable state and took great care not to leave any marks in the flooring along the transit route. They are a credit to Future Medical.”

Lead de-installations engineer Tom Burns added: “The pandemic has delayed many equipment replacement plans but this one went ahead successfully. We always ensure that staff and patients are distanced and we continue to follow the government guidelines to keep everybody safe.

“We understand that imaging equipment can be essential in the fight against COVID-19 and that hospitals often need to make way for new equipment. Future Medical will continue to do what it can during this problematic time to accommodate any decommissioning or installs.”
