Grange University Hospital welcomes trio of C-arms

The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran, has invested in three Philips UKI Zenition 70 C-arm systems as well as a Stille imagiQ2 table. The hospital opened in November 2020 to help South Wales respond to winter seasonal pressures and the second wave of COVID-19.

Radiology acute services manager Andrea Boycott commented: “We find the Zenition 70 an extremely flexible system for the workload, offering a solution to our imaging needs as a designated trauma unit for the Gwent area. It allows us to support imaging that requires vascular investigations in theatre for trauma patients.”

Engineered for continuous imaging with SmartFilters for enhanced heat management, the C-arm with flat detector helps increase efficiency. Operators at all experience levels can comfortably use the system due to its easy-to-use interface, including a ‘point and shoot’ design and on-screen guidance. In addition, Unify
workflow is designed to take the complexity and frustration out of surgical imaging tasks.

“The systems were operational at the opening of our new site, with one of the C-arms designated for temporary pacing procedures outside of core hours. The system is very intuitive, with good image quality and low dose, and the ability to retrieve the worklist and send images to PACS wirelessly is very helpful.”

The Stille imagiQ2 surgical table offers smooth and accurate movements and clear translucency, features that help save time in the operating theatre and minimise the need for C-arm adjustments that could contribute to overheating. “Its carbon fibre tabletop provides excellent transparency (0.4mm Al), considerably reducing radiation dose without compromising image quality,” Philips states.
