Yeovil’s art project allows public explore x-rays

With one of the x-ray works of art created at Yeovil District Hospital are consultant radiologist Richard Clarkson, x-ray artist Hugh Turvey, radiographer Sasha Moore, radiology manager Dean Phillips and YDH arts co-ordinator Caroline Barnes.

X-ray artist Hugh Turvey was employed as an artist in residence by Yeovil District Hospital to produce a series of meaningful artworks for the radiology department.

Funding came from a Wellcome Trust public engagement grant and was supported by the Art in Healthcare steering group at YDH.  Staff and the public were invited to participate in workshops that allowed them to explore x-ray equipment under supervision of a radiographer.  An exhibition of 29 permanent artworks were created during three Saturday morning workshops.
